GoDaddy website has no call button: how to add tap-to-call

For small local businesses · November 2, 2026

If someone opens your site on a phone and your number is plain text, they have to copy it and switch apps before they can reach you. A tap-to-call link fixes that, and the GoDaddy Websites + Marketing editor gives you a few ways to add one. This guide is not made by, partnered with or endorsed by GoDaddy; the name is used only to describe where to click.

What a tap-to-call link actually is

A tap-to-call link is a phone number wrapped in a special link so a phone opens the dialer when it is tapped. On a desktop computer it may open a calling app or do nothing, which is fine, because the point is the phone visitor.

You want two things on your site: a button that says something clear like "Call us", and your number written out somewhere on the page so people can read it, copy it or dial it manually.

Add a call button in the GoDaddy editor

Sign in to your GoDaddy account, open your Websites + Marketing site and choose Edit Website or Edit Site. The page builder opens with your sections stacked down the page.

Pick the section where you want the button, usually the top section of the home page. Click the section, open its settings panel, and look for the button or action settings. Set the button action to Phone or Call, then type your number in the field provided. If your section does not offer a phone action, add a Button element instead and set its link type to phone.

Make the number a link inside your text

Buttons are great, but people also scan the text. In a text block, highlight your phone number, click the link tool in the small formatting toolbar, and choose the phone option. Type the number, apply it, and the text turns into a tappable link.

Do the same in your footer and on your contact page so the number works wherever someone lands.

Get it onto the first phone screen

The first screen is what a visitor sees before scrolling. Switch the editor to the mobile preview and look at what shows without scrolling. If your call button sits below a tall photo or a long headline, move it up.

Shorten the headline, trim the top section padding if the theme allows it, and put the call button directly under the line that says what you do and where you work. Also check your site header: many themes let you add a phone number or a small action button that stays near the top.

Test it on a real phone

Preview mode is not the same as the real thing. Publish, then open your site on your own phone over mobile data rather than office wifi, and tap the button. Your dialer should open with the correct number already filled in.

Ask someone with a different phone brand to try it too, and have them call so you can confirm the call lands on the right line and your voicemail greeting sounds right. If the dialer opens with a missing digit, go back and retype the number rather than editing part of it.
