Method
Which sites: businesses that came up in public web searches for "HVAC / AC repair / heating" plus "Pasadena, CA" (October 2026), with directories and review sites (Yelp, Angi, HomeAdvisor and similar) left out. Each business is counted once, by its website. Some companies are based nearby and advertise Pasadena service; referral networks that pass calls to other companies were removed. This isn't a random sample of every business in Pasadena.
Speed: Google PageSpeed Insights (Lighthouse) mobile and desktop tests of each homepage, one run each, on October 18, 2026. "Main content on phone" is Largest Contentful Paint; Google calls 2.5 seconds or less good. Lab tests vary from run to run, so treat single numbers as a snapshot, not a verdict.
Homepage checks (read from the public homepage): a tap-to-call (tel:) link when a phone number is shown, a meta description, and HTTPS. Sites that didn't load, that Google couldn't test, or that showed a bot-check page instead of the homepage are left out (2 of 35 found).
What this is not: it doesn't rate the quality of anyone's work, and it doesn't measure Google rankings, reviews or sales.
